PRESENTATION
In Japanese Buddhist imagination, the peacock symbolizes purification and benevolence, notably through Kujaku Myōō, the “Peacock King.”
These values resonate with Kannon, bodhisattva of compassion, whose light guides and soothes.
Caroline Karénine reinterprets this symbolic constellation as a hybrid figure where femininity and sacred bird become one.
Wearing a black kimono with floral, undulating motifs, the Peacock Woman delicately holds her pendant, while a golden halo evokes Buddhist iconography.
The work blends Japanese tradition with Western ornamental art to highlight the symbols of compassion and protection.
